Brief Description
Campfire Coaching professional development sessions use small group meetings to provide an ongoing, practice-based coaching cycle in three stages: Learn & Plan, Implement & Practice, Debrief & Reflect . Campfire Coaching centers on educator wellness and focuses on supporting educators around building prosocial skills, effective responses to challenging behaviors, and quality inclusion.

Core Components for Model Fidelity
- Group Meetings: Campfire Coaching serves small groups of 5-8 educators per FirstDay Learning coach.
- Learn & Plan: During these sessions, educators are provided with actionable method cards to be used in the classroom to promote prosocial behaviors and prevent challenging ones. Educators are provided with guided facilitation to make specific plans for using the method cards to improve their individual situations.
- Implement & Practice: Educators are given time to try out the methods they planned for in the classrooms.
- Debrief & Reflect: Educators come back together to discuss their implementation. They share what worked and where they need continued support.

Campfire Coaching is typically delivered in virtual sessions. There are options available for some on-site sessions; please contact the purveyor for more information.
Dosage
Campfire Coaching consists of two Tracks. Each Track is 10 hours of practice-based coaching delivered through 60-minute virtual sessions offered weekly over a 2.5-month period or bi-weekly over a 5-month period for a total of 20 hours of coaching. Campfire Coaching is typically delivered throughout the standard 10-month school year.

Materials: FirstDay Learning Method Cards are provided by the purveyor and included in the cost of implementation.
Staffing Requirements
All coaches have mental and behavioral expertise. There is not a train-the-trainer program; coaches are provided by FirstDay Learning.
Training for Model Fidelity
Staff are trained and provided by FirstDay Learning. There is no train the trainer program.

Cost Estimates
Campfire Coaching costs $6,200 per track per cohort of 5-8 attending educators. There are 2 Tracks, each of which provides 10 hours of practice-based coaching with a schedule to fit each client's needs. The start of each cohort includes a virtual kick-off. An on-site kick-off is available for $5,700 (3 or 4 cohorts can be combined for a single on-site kick-off). On-site midpoint workshops, on-site behavioral coaching, and/or on-site end of project wrap-ups are available - each at $5,700 (3-4 cohorts can be combined in one on-site day).

Research Summary
Two of the most recent publications on Campfire Coaching include the 2020-2021 Impact Report1 and the 2021-2022 Impact Report.2 Participants sampled in these surveys included all participants each year, with no further demographic information provided. Survey responses in 2020-2021 indicated that participants rated their Campfire Coaching coach as highly effective (91%) and noted that the model improved their teaching practice (88%). Furthermore, participants reported improvements in their children’s behaviors (75%) and an increase in their confidence in responding to challenging behaviors (87%) after completing the program. Campfire Coaching participants in 2021-2022 reported an increase in their confidence (97%). Participants felt the program helped them learn how to deal with challenging behaviors (100%), improve their children’s behavior (88%), and felt supported to critically reflect on their practice (83%). Participants also rated their coaches as highly effective (96%) and highly supportive (88%).
